There’s a spoon on my desk.
It isn’t a nice spoon. It came out of the kitchen drawer for some coffee-related reason and never made the trip back. But it is perfectly balanced. Lay it across a finger and it sits there like somebody engineered it on purpose, which I doubt anyone did. So it stayed. My hand finds it every time I’m thinking something through, and now it has survived every desk cleanup since.
I want to start a thread I can keep coming back to, because I think our desks say more about us than our job titles do. Mine says “this guy needs something to fiddle with, and the silverware drawer was closest.”
So, what’s on your desk right now that has no business being there?
A few loose rules:
- One object. Pick your favorite offender.
- No tidying first. We document the site as found.
- A photo is welcome, a sentence is plenty, and “a spoon” is a complete answer.
