Brain dumping has proven useful to me when I find I’m only getting partway through a problem and getting stuck, especially when I’m stuck because of competing thoughts. Verbalizing the problem I’m working through regardless of whether there’s anyone there to listen seems to be the only way to get to the solution, or at least a correct definition of the problem.
